One of the positives to come out of my wife's dying is that others are living. Through the broadcast of our "Paula's Story" and our follow up on "A Silent Killer", several people were made aware of the symptoms of Pulmonary Embolism (PE) and took actions that saved their lives. That is the focus of my life now, making the general public AND the medical community more aware of the dangers of blood clots to the lungs. I have found a relatively new organization called the American Thrombosis Association (www.bloodclot.org.) who's mission is greater public awareness regarding the dangers of clots. I am going to join them and will try to establish a Louisiana Chapter. If you are interested in getting involved, please call me (504-483-1546) or e-mail me at bob@bobbreck.com. In addition, a local nurse, who works for Aventis Pharmaceuticals, informs me about the CLOT ALERT RESOURCE CENTER. This is a brand new educational service of Aventis and you can get FREE information (a patient's guide) sent to do by calling 1-800-CLOT-FREE. If you or a loved one has suffered from PE, please get involved. With enough members, we can approach Congress for funding that will allow us to go nationwide with a public awareness campaign. Paula's Story will guide me for the rest of my life. Let it guide yours too. Peace and Love, Bob Breck |
